A very good place for budget meals. The food is super fresh, tasty and value for money. Their chicken 65, Chicken Roast and biryani are finger licking good. It's a small restaurant but kept very clean. Staff is also good.

Oh my word, the kids LOVED this place! We were lucky to come on a sunny day, not too busy inside and plenty of great photo opportunities including a peacock in flight! We enjoyed the interactive and informative displays and feeding the animals. Superb! The dinosaur and toy museum are a bit random but add even more intrigue and adventure.

Absolutely amazing! Great for the history lovers, there's so much to see and learn and do. Most things are interactive, there are animals wandering around and you're allowed to feed them if you buy food for them. Entry fee is so cheap for what you get I think! Absolutely worth it. The haunted house was very fun as well, I absolutely hate scare things but I found it more fun than anything! The toy museum was wonderful and there was so much on display, you can put some pennies or pounds in and play an old arcade game or two if you want. There were dinosaur statues as well! Lots of speakers playing the sounds you would expect to hear in an actual medieval village (and near the dinosaurs too) and lots of audio and visual information that tells you all about what you're looking at. The goats were SO CUTE and there's a few places where you can get a really good view over the whole village! It's big enough you could spend a day there but small enough that it doesn't feel exhausting walking around. Definitely recommend, and I am definitely visiting again!

A really good example of social history depicting medieval life. Great for adults and children. The ticket also gives you access to the toy museum which is a nice bonus. We'll worth going.

Very Interesting day out to see how we lived all those years ago. The toy museum has an original of just about every small toy made, plus many one arm bandits and slot machines. A tribute to the Beatles with guitar's and posters on many of the days pop groups.
And for the children of which there were many lots of wild birds and animals that were quite tame and were happy to be touched and fed from your hand.

Much more to see than you might expect. The toy museum is excellent!

Parking to visit here is very easy there's a large pay and display car park located next to the entrance.
This is a reconstruction of what it might have looked like years ago, there are a very small amount of early construction still standing that you can see but the new construction gives a great feel of times gone by.
They have added a lot of bits and pieces the kids can play and try and places for them to climb the turrets and see how various trades would have done there work.
There's a number of animals wandering and grazing you can buy food to feed the goats sheep peacocks ducks and chickens.
They have a restaurant / cafe on site with some lovely home style cakes and the portions are good.
Included in the visit is the toy museum that is packed with toys and games from many years many that you would have had or wanted as a kid. Some of the old slot machines still work old pennies to pla y can be bought at the entrance to the museum.
There are a few plastic dinosaurs outside the museum with a sand fossil tray to dig in.

A gentle, pleasant place to meander, close to London, on the Stanstead Express train route, (from London’s Liverpool Street station).

This reconstruction Norman village transports you back in time. There are historically accurate Norman dwellings, Norman worker’s huts, Stocks, (for naughty residents, such as ‘taking bread’, looking at another’s wife, (all trivial things, but nonetheless, offenders were publicly ridiculed for them). This Norman village is as authentic as it gets. Archaeologists historians and others were involved all the way, to make every visit an educational experience. I personally, loved the recon. Church. It’s only tiny, but adequate for the village.

The whole thing was built on top of an original Norman village.

Animals freely roam the area - sheep; goats; peacocks and others were present, when I visited this year (2023).

There’s a lovely pub nearby, with outdoor seating.
