As with most people, my first time here was by by train and it wasn't the easiest place to navigate but I found my way. It wasn't hard figuring out the buses though there is need for markings or barriers to differentiate the bus terminals. That would help with long queues make for disorderly queues that form when there are a lot of people or bus strikes.

The train terminals are clearly demarcated and easy to access. There are different waiting areas and coffee shops along the way. There is also the office for tickets and railcards should you want physical copies.

I found the rest rooms unavailable in most of my visits which is quite inconvenient. All in all its decent for a terminal when you're simply passing through.

An old and primitive train and bus station, apparently 'modernised' in 2007 though whoever was responsible for that has essentially done nothing to streamline the congested one-way thoroughfare for all the buses to enter and exit the station. Having only two bus service providers for the whole of East Yorkshire lays the entire system open to the usual petty squabbling, rivalry and lack of cooperation found in every duopoly, which is especially frustrating for the average user as both services have seen a laughable decline in service quality in recent years.
The station building is huge but the interior is paradoxically cramped, with a long, half empty arcade so closely opposite the bus terminals that long queues of people frequently curve and clog up the entire area; more thought seems to have gone into giving the bus drivers (if there are any) a relatively comfortable staff room.
The train side is marginally better, with more space, decent sized facilities and a gratefully refurbished restroom/waiting room. A new ticket barrier currently being installed, however, looks like it'll cut into this space awkwardly, though since the train side is so much quieter in general (like every other train station in Britain) this doesn't cause that much headache, though even the strangely oversized statue of Philip Larkin is placed in a way that people have to navigate around.
The ticket offices for bus and train are threadbare to the point of barely functioning. Stagecoach have closed their office entirely, possibly saving the poor staff there from being swamped by endless, justified complaints. The train office staff are not exactly helpful and borderline rude; never a good sign when criticism of service staff is actually warranted.
Parking and taxi services are at least decent, and there is a hotel adjoined to the building for anyone not brave enough to actually leave the station.
Lastly the cavernous roof turns each and every announcement from the loudspeakers into piercing cannonballs of white noise, with the only discernible messages being about CCTV and the prohibition on smoking (not that the rudimentary security staff care about the constant open vaping that goes on). Why the 'modernisation' did not fix the problem of the roof - itself tremendously dirty, decrepit and dust-blown) - is probably the most notable 'feature' of the station.
To realise that this is the main transport hub for city and county is an embarrassment, and the two-star rating comes purely for the effort of the staff in the food hubs, who have an exceptionally unpleasant and thankless task of dealing with the city's feral human wildlife.

The high number of vaping youths causing trouble and blowing huge clouds of vape all over people is insane. I have asthma and breathing issues. Having to stand there around all of that choked me to barely being able to breathe and up all night coughing. Stupid it is not being stopped. Most indoor places count it same as smoking. Not allowed.

Screens non working. No staff to ask about buses. Which were constantly not running. Extremely hard for a non local to find their way around. Stressful experience. Glad only using it for a week

I have lived in hull for 2 years now. The 4 toilets in the ladies have NEVER been all fully working. There is always 2 out of order signs on these doors. Sometimes on different doors which means only 2 toilets are ever in use. Occasionally 2 are locked without signs on giving the impression they are occupied when they aren't. One woman got so annoyed a few weeks ago she took a screwdriver out of her bag to unlock one of these doors and used the toilet! It flushed fine and there was nothing wrong with it. She says she unlocks them herself regularly and uses them without a problem thsts why she now carries a screwdriver so she can open it herself. She also thinks the same as me. That they are deliberately only letting customers use 2 toilets instead of 4 so they can save time on cleaning. Toilets are a basic human right. They have no right to pretend they are faulty when they aren't or lock them to pretend they are in use when they aren't. This has been going on to my knowledge 2 years probably longer. All it creates is long queues which is unnecessary.
They aren't the cleanest anyway. Whoever has made this decision needs to stop it now! I will be complaining to the council. It doesn't take 2 years to fix 2 toilets. Also they aren't always the same toilets.

The train part is pretty good... The bus part is the worst place known to man. The area needs rethinking and barriers put up or lines marking on the floor to coral people to the bus bays they are waiting for and a clearly defined walkway area where people cannot wait that stretches full length of the station. Only a few days ago did the queue from bay 14 snake down to bay 5 intersecting with all the other queues between. Nobody knew what was going on and people were irritated quite rightly so. Please put something in place. Also toilets closer to the buses would be greatly appreciated and there is ample space for this near bay 4.

The city centre of Hull. You can easily navigate your way around.

Helpful staff, terrible signage and it's cold wet and dirty, a mess of a station.
