This is a lovely quiet spot to have a look around, walk the dog or enjoy a pic nic. I have been here twice and you can spend a couple of hours here looking around and then relaxing enjoying the sights.

Great place to visit for a quick little walk about or to enjoy a picnic. Lots of history to enjoy and think about. There are lots of areas with a brief history of each section which is very interesting. Surrounding village is pretty. Parking isn't too great but if you don't mind walking - you can park out a little and walk in.

Free to visit site with quite a lot of Castle left. Information boards are dotted about the site to help guide you round. The Earth works to the south of the castle area accessible through a gate near the car park but there is not much to see from the ground. Heritage Lincolnshire do have events on at the castle so worth a look on there website or Facebook page. Small car park and no facilities

Not massive amounts to see but it is a well looked after ruin with plenty of information plagues. Good piece of history.

There might not be a huge amount of castle left HOWEVER it still manages to be absolutely amazing to see. There's information boards that explain the lay out which are interesting too. I took my son there as a spontaneous adventure at around 7pm, there doesn't seem to be a open or close time there which is handy. There's some beautiful views & the parts of the castle that are left such as the doorways, a window or 2 & the moat are just fascinating to see. I'm a history lover so I might be slightly biased but 100% worth a visit. I'm a member of British Heritage so their sites are free entry to me but there doesn't seem to be an entrance fee here anyway, at least not at the time of day we went.

An excellent afternoon destination. Don't expect high walls and gift shops though. It is a ruin (thanks Mr Cromwell), but it is a marvellous piece of history.
It's never too busy, so take a small ball or a frisbee. A flask, a picnic and a blanket.
There are information boards with nice little bits of art showing what it probably looked like.
Please be responsible though and remember it is a historical site, and if you take a dog the moat is full of nesting water birds.
Enjoy this fabulous piece of history. And remember it's mine, it's yours, it's your children's. Love it like I do and you'll have a great day there. 13-10-22, what a wonderful morning to have a little walk around with a mug of tea. This really is a peaceful place.

Small, but very interesting site with restored remains of a castle. The 'moat' was fish ponds that provided a food source for the people in the castle, but now it provides a home for wildlife. When we visited there was a goose grazing, ducklings with their mother and moorhen chicks. It's a lovely location and it is easy to spend a short time exploring and reading about the remains, but on a sunny day it would be a great place to have a picnic and spend an afternoon enjoying the peaceful location. There are no facilities here and there's roadside parking for only two or three cars. The site can be accessed by wheel chair, but it is a rough grass area and there are some very steep gradients so possibly not the best place for wheeled exploration. Worth a quick visit if you are in the area or passing by.

I love heritage. There's nothing here apart from the footprint of the castle and the moat. No toilets, no tearoom just the castle. Parking is down a small lane on a corner. There's enough parking for about 4 cars at a squeeze. You could park in the village and walk in. We didn't stop in the village, due to most things being closed because of the pandemic. Well worth a visit if you like history. Notice boards dotted around giving information and the grounds are kept tidy.
