I passed by Bolton Priory on my circular walk from Barden Bridge along one side of the river and then back along the other side. The one thing that struck me about the place was how busy it was, but it was a good atmosphere. People were having picnics, playing games, sunbathing, listening to music and kids were paddling and swimming in the river. It was a beautiful day, with temperatures around 20C and many people were taking advantage of the beach right next to the priory. It is like a mini resort, and I would definitely go again. It's ideal for kids. The car parks as of summer 2023 cost £15 for the day, or £12.50 if you book in advance on the Bolton Priory website.

What a beautiful place. My only regret is that my two dogs and I were unable to stay longer than the two hours had allocated for it

It costs £15 for entry, but this does include car parking at the place. This initially seems a little steep, but after entering the main area, you are treated to a panoramic view which is beyond words

As well as the impressiveness of the Prior itself you also have the magnificence of the Abbey itself. It is very dog friendly and we were accepted into the little cafe for a brew before our arrival

There are a number of beautiful, including rivers, a mini beach and glorious scenery. Thoroughly recommended, especially on a good day

Lovely walk around Priory and Abbey. Recommend visiting, parking is £15 or 12.50 if book in advance. Suggest arriving early 10/11 ish as gets busy if weather is good.

Initially shocked by the £15 parking charge, with double yellows on all surrounding streets preventing other options. However we had no regrets paying this by the end of our fantastic walk. Very varied route across the stepping stones, by the Strid, through the Valley of Desolation and up to the Aquaduct. Gorgeous Yorkshire scenery by the river Wharfe, and wonderfully quiet for a Saturday afternoon in July. Whole estate immaculately maintained with zero litter and simple elements added in to provide entertainment for very young children during the first part of the walk.
Would highly recommend this walk if you are staying nearby!

Wonderful building and riverside location with a variety of walks. Also a fantastic tea shop near the entrance which overlooks the Abbey, grounds and river which provided us with, a hard to beat, large homemade hot scone with their own Berry compote and tea for two £10 special. Not had such good scones since my mother's, God rest her soul.

Nice sunny winter afternoon wander around the grounds. Neatly kept and good paths. Ice cream van, but it was a little cold for one today. There are several longer walks along the river, but I just stuck to the Abbey grounds this time.

Lovely place to visit.

Beautiful spot for a picnic. Very scenic with the abbey ruins, river and farmland. There are gentle riverside strolls on paths or more strenuous hikes up through the valley of desolation to the trig point at Simon's seat with wonderful views. There is wheelchair/push chair accessible paths by the abbey. Plenty of dog walkers but also many of the fields had livestock in so there is a lot of places that dogs have to be on a lead for. There is a nice cafe by the river with coffee/snacks and some lovely cafes in the village next to the priory.

Really enjoyable day, with something for all the family. Plenty of parking and places for food and picnics. There are numerous activities for the younger ones along the walk.
