Absolutely amazing staff that were on hand 24 hours to help with any queries we had. Room service was very quick to respond to our needs and the food was delicious. We had some issues finding parking but the staff over the phone were quick to guide us. Will definitely be staying again.

Oohhh Grey Friars... !! Always a pleasure!
I mean, I feel every restaurant ought to come here and see how it's really done !
The service is impeccable. The polite , considerate staff are delightful and oh so helpful, attentive, well mannered and beautifully dressed.

Whether you are having afternoon tea, (where the many offerings of tea types are constantly refreshed/re-refilled), which is one of the very best or a full meal they will cater to your every whim and tweak every which way they can to give you the best meal possible.

The characterful stepped terrace is laid beneath huge aged trees to help shade this sun-trap, complete with large wicker type chairs and vast parasols that do not blow about , (as I have experienced before), where you dog will be well looked after too.

Or choose one of the beautiful panelled rooms inside such as the Rose Room complete with comfy upholstered chairs and delicate elaborate rose glass lamp shades beside deep sash windows.

A bit more of a considered purchase the meals may be, but if you would like to impress someone look no further than Grey Friars.

Great stay, brilliant staff. We planned to have drinks in the bar before heading out but then ended up deciding to stay in and dine at the hotel when we arrived. We definitely were not disappointed with our decision, food was fantastic, staff were very attentive, we would love to return again!

Beautiful hotel. Comfortable, clean and well looked after rooms. Reception staff were very friendly and the entire place is fantastic. The addition of a complementary minibar is always welcome!
Dinner was amazing and one of the best meals I've ever had. Thoroughly recommended.

This is only a review of the coffee room. We just popped in to escape a hailstorm. A wonderful and comfortable haven. For a few pennies more than the standard coffee shop you get excellent service, proper crockery and comfortable, quiet ambiance.

Excellent service. Spotlessly clean. Room smaller than I had hoped. Would have loved a bath. Food pricey but very good. Lovely building and very conveniently situated with on site parking.

A wonderful break, celebrating my Wife's Birthday. From the moment we checked in, the service was excellent from all members of staff.
Our suite was substantial, the breakfasts superb and everywhere spotlessly clean.
Ideally situated in the City of Colchester.
Easy access to Constable Country, and the coast.
We WILL return.

Stayed for two nights in early June, had a great time , relaxing, luxurious, superb staff and delicious food . Nothing is too much trouble, the staff are very accommodating, the room we had (No14) had everything and more , could go on and on about this lovely place, would highly recommend...
