I visited there to get my UAE visa extension as per new rule one has to leave the country means Exit to get a new one.. So i went there for Oman visa and came back in a day.. I spend almost 5-6 hours there on immigration process for exiting as due to heavy rush on border.. But finally exit and enter to Oman.. Than came back same day with new UAE Visa.. Although process was very smooth.. Not like airport immigration.. It was just a very quick there one I get my turn.. About the place.. It's all surrounded by hills and greenery.. Great place to visit as it's a tourist place as well.. But no one can go near the border.. Even one shouldn't be as it's a high security area.... But if u love the hills and greenery.. U can plan a hatta tour.. As the Dubai govt is also promoting Hatta as a new tourist destination..

Nice view. Of mountains border crossing is much harder because officers take time to check and approve entry... That only take time other wise it's nice place must vist

The Al Wajajah border crossing is open 24h for cars and trucks alike. It is on the road between Al Aqur (Oman) and Hatta (UAE/Dubai).

EXIT FORMALITIES
When exiting Oman, you have to pay your vehicle exit fee first, then get your passport stamped. Your car normally will not be searched. This is it :-) quite fast indeed.

ENTRY FORMALITIES
If you have a car insurance covering the Sultanate, no need to get one at the border. Otherwise you can stop at one of the offices before Al Wajajah. There are various insurance offices in the area, the first one at the Shell petrol station in the small Omani enclave before Masfout/Hatta, and the last one in the no-man's-land after the UAE border post. Note that car insurance is compulsory and will be checked by the immigration officers in any case.

When entering Oman, your car is searched a few kilometres before arriving at Al Wajajah by the Omani authorities. You will receive a small paper voucher where the number of passengers will be noted. Keep this with you.

As a national, GCC national or resident in Oman, you can proceed directly by car to one of the windows which will show red or green traffic lights. All formalities will be done there, including the stamping of the voucher stating that your car has been searched and the number of passengers. Once you are done, proceed eastwards and go to the last checkpoint where this voucher will be collected. Welcome to Oman.

If you do not have visa or a proper residency status and are eligible for visa on arrival, park your car in the parking lot between the entering and exiting lanes and go inside the huge building where templates to be filled in will be handed over to you. Deliver them along with the visa payment and your passport to the immigration officer. They will issue the visa, stamp your passport, check your car documents and insurance, enter your data into their search engine and stamp the voucher stating that your car has been searched and the number of passengers. Once your passport is returned, you do not have to queue up at the windows where all local cars are handing in their documents. Once you are done, proceed eastwards and go to the last checkpoint where this voucher will be collected. Welcome to Oman
