Well worth the money, had an excellent trip! Lots of history to see. The tickets were a very reasonable price, the museum was great and entrance to that was free! The gift shop has a lot of variety, and the cafe was reasonably priced as well, loved the cake! A disused train carriage is now used as a shop, selling second hand books, toys etc, a lovely touch. There is decent disability access both at the center and on the train with some very spacious and open carriages in amongst the others, allowing plenty of room for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Dogs are allowed also. Not a single complaint to be made, it was great. I will definitely be visiting again with the kids!

Beautiful railway. Very well looked after. Excellent knowledge of staff on board train. VIP observation was lovely to be in and the guard gave us an excellent knowledge of the line and its surroundings. Lovely food, although the information doesn’t show a full selection. I really wanted to give 5 stars but the ticketing system means that you have to queue for the single ticket booth even if you have purchased online, the signage and online confirmation don’t explain this. It was good that they encouraged those who had booked online to go to the shop to exchange their tickets, but this was only when the queue was very long and 10 minutes before the train was due to depart.

However, a really lovely day out. All the family enjoyed it. Thank you.

Nice steam train experience, not too badly priced either. Only minor down side is there are quite a few old carriages with tarpaulins covering the parked along the tracks, so they block the views occasionally. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We had a day rover ticket, so hopped off at one of the stations to grab some lunch at a local pub.

It's like going back in time! How wonderful! I took my wife and 15 & 12 year old. My daughter doesn't like trains but had a 'ok' time and the rest of us were enchanted. It was a lovely experience, the staff were very friendly and everyone had love for the railway. Lovely little museum, shop and railway refreshments. A great bank holiday!

We have been promising to visit here for a long time but something always cropped up to foil us. Today (21/06/23) we managed it !! What a wonderful time we had. Weather was perfect and journey was pleasant and enjoyable. All staff were very friendly and helpful. It was well worth the detour caused by road closures!! Highly recommended.

A lovely day out, especially if it's raining. The team at the forest of Dean Railway are passionate and knowledgeable and clearly love thier roles in the team. It's great to see ongoing training and to experience the lovely vibrant green scenes of nature visible from the line. The seats are comfy and it's a true delight.

Had a good time at this place, staff are friendly and welcoming, they have easy access to the platforms, cafeteria and toilets. Theres plenty of parking and you can view the station, trains and library for free, tickets are single journey cost, with no one way option as a cheaper alternative for walkers...say wanting to go into the forest and not come back on the train, its an expensive ticket for a one way trip... but food value for a day trip across the area, the various stations are all different and Norchard has recently been used for filming parts of the Sister Boniface Mystery series on UkTV. would recommend a visit for a trip or just to look around, plenty of photo ops and you can look at lot of other older equipment and history from the activities in the area.

Excellent campsite with a jaw dropping view, the owners were lovely and the facilities on site were really well maintained and comfortable with all necessities taken into consideration, not to mention the surrounding area was also a joy to be in. Would very highly recommend this campsite.
