Amazing place in between the mountains. The guide was very friendly and knowledgable about the place. Highly recommend a visit. High clearance vehicle is recommended for the last 2 miles due to road conditions.

A simple but worthwhile visit. Photogenic area with history dating back hundreds of years. The fort and the surrounding village area is watched over and cared for by Mr Abdul Ali, who is knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly, and explains the history of the fort/castle and surrounding areas well. You can tip him or bring him some food or drink as access is free.

The fort itself was home to the royal family of Fujairah, and the main building and watch tower are worth the climb up. I recommend coming in the early morning or an hour or so before sunset (4.30-5 pm) as it's not as warm and the light makes for beautiful photos.

The trail between the dam and the fort has fallen into some disrepair and will require sensible driving in a sedan, SUV or 4x4.

Well renovated fort located in the outskirts of Fujairah and close to Wadi Hayl. Drive to the fort is a bit of an adventure as well. You can climb up to the watch tower as well. Good place to visit especially during winter days.

This is a great weekend spot. We went as a group of friends, had picnic and went hiking. There are lot of mountains to trek, a security guard taking care of the fort. The fort is small and unique, you can have a look at how king’s family used to live at those times(1930s).

Nice long drive from Dubai. Road towards the castle is awesome.
Castle is an old house of the king.
Great panoramic views of the wadi from top of the castle.
Washrooms are available like any other tourist site in UAE.
However no refreshments or shops nearby.

Hidden gem. A nice and serene dam with fresh water. Ideal Camping spot.And from there you drive further for 5-10mins you reach the Al hayl castle. Nice view,.well maintained heritage site.

4x4 not really needed but some patches of road are washed away and are very tight in places as only one car pass through. In case you really want to venture deeper away from the Fort then a 4x4 will come handy. Nice to walk around if you like exploring and yes do wear some proper shoes.

Historical place about 18 km from Fujairah city center. On the way you will cross the Al Hail dam. We were lucky as this was one of the few dams that had water. A drive through small stretches of rough road will bring you to the old castle of Shaikh of Fujairah. There are tour guides who are helpful and friendly. However camping within the museum site is not permitted. It is advisable to visit the place in the day time when in Fujairah.
