It's a fantastic place to go to. The whole area is beautiful to explore. Avoid the area if there are chances of rain, as it might become dangerous due to flash flooding.

Google maps lead us right there, very short distance from the main road… first there is an oasis view, then the wadi drive, and a small farm to the Petroglyph, if it’s on your way, why not take a few minutes and contemplate the history…

It is the starting point of a nice and easy hiking track. During the itinerary there are two other archeological sites. The track is very well signs (stone landmarks) and follow a wadi. At the end of the track (length about 6 km, ascend 300 m) there is a small castle.

Not that exciting to be totally honest. We drove from Hatta but it was so not worth the effort. Oh well, there are many other things to see around the area.

It's beautiful and very calm place have to take care during rainy season , good for family outing and barbecue we visited during rain it was wonderful experience. Can also try hike there if interested.

This is an amazing place to hike. The forte and the farms around it is perfect.. Serene flow of water makes it a brilliant get away

This is an out of the way site without any signs to lead you to it. You'll have to trust Google maps to take you there. The exit is off the Newer Dubai-Fujairah highway the E84. You drive off the highway and take a winding road into the Saham valley.

The main Petroglyph is etched onto a big boulder that is located on the side of the road, enclosed by a fence. You can clearly see multiple markings on both of the larger faces of the boulder. There are multiple markings of men on horses and capital T's. The T's might have signified trees?

Either way if you visit close to sunrise or sunset they are easier to make out in that softer light. Just before the boulder on the right side of the road is a fenced off area with a sign from the Fujairah antiquities department. If you walk into the valley located behind the fence you can climb into the fenced off region to see more petroglyphs on random rocks in this fenced off area. The smaller "snake" "O's" etc in the attached photos are in this region.

From what I've read on the subject, there were many more petroglyphs at the base of the mountains surrounding the large boulder etc but I couldn't find them. They might have been lost whilst making the road etc.

All in all an interesting site that deserves a visit for one to ponder over how many generations have lived and died in the region over thousands of years. Go with an open mind and don't expect selfies to come out of your time here. This site can easily be connected with a larger trip to Fujairah or wadi hayl and the associated castle etc.
