Well worth a visit if you like waterfalls, walking and historical sites. Accessing most points of interest is a challenge, especially the circular route, although access just to see the falls from the very top, info boards and historical buildings is better.
What with narrow slippery paths and difficult parking very close to the waterfall, I can understand the foot of the falls is not open bank holidays etc. Makes most sense to park at the top of the lane near the school to avoid narrow passing places and blocking the small access road.

Lumsdale lived up to expectations and some. Amazing place. Such a hidden gem. Beautiful lakes, waterfalls snd forest with some very beautiful old trees. And of course the old mills. Spent 3 hours in heaven here. Parking available at both ends. A little cafe/real ale brewery down Lumsdale Road. Along with few other businesses.

The beautiful art of nature. A wonderful waterfall invites you with its noise from afar. An extraordinary spectacle of the element. Despite it looked bigger in the pictures. Visited after 6 p.m.

Such a lovely hidden gem. It didn't open til lunchtime, so we easily got parked and went for a walk and we visited the falls on the way back. Very pretty and free to visit.

Lumsdale is one of those stunning “secret” type places with lots of bits to it. (Though the locals would disagree about the secret bit!)

There are several ponds and the old ruins next to the falls themselves.
The ruins are becoming unstable, and therefore are behind security fences. Luckily and currently you can access the majority of the site through the open gate but there are signs to say it will be locked again in October 2023.

There is (limited) parking, both next to the falls and up near the top of the site opposite Highfields school, but plenty of access on foot.

There is also a micro-brewery half way down the hill which I always think is nice although as of yet, we have not ventured in!

I would definitely recommend a good couple of hours to fully explore the area, as there are lots of turns and footpaths to explore, but some areas are very spotty on internet signal so don’t rely on maps - or download them first ????

Pretty, secluded valley with interesting old mill ruins and ponds, some steep steps and very slippery rocks around the waterfall itself, park at the top of the hill near the school and walk down along the various footpaths, you can retrace your steps or walk back up the single track road.

Great place for a long walk in the outdoors, with some beautiful scenery to take in.

It isn't greatly established in terms of accessibility, for anyone who has a wheelchair/walking aids etc though.
