COIN ONLY. No card or app payment.
Small car park, about 25 parking spots.
Town centre is up the steep hill, this takes around 5-10mins to walk.
Its located next to a small village green type of area which is beautiful and a small walk down the street is the bridge and waterfall.

Cheap, free from 8pm to 6am. But beware there is no camping at any time. Don't be deceived by campers staying there over the night. They have permanent resident permits. We've have been fined £50 by car park attendant for leaving the curtains down in the van as we don't want anybody looking in it. He claimed that somebody was sleeping in it. That is normal welfare transit van with side windows not a camper.

I parked here on Saturday 1st May 2021 and it wasn't too busy, I arrived at about 11am, from my direction of travel the entrance to the carpark was a little bit hidden and in my confusion nearly caused an accident. Anyway a bit of an update to a previous review, you can now pay by card using an app called ringgo, make sure you have a few mins to spare though if you havent registered on it before as it takes a bit of time

You can park your camper here for the whole week if you like loads do it and no one seems to bat an eyelid

Good car park to walk from through the woods over to the car park at Round Howe with its toilets and back by the river Swale over the bridge with a great view of the castle ???? back to the York square car park

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF STAYING IN THIS CARPARK IN YOUR VEHICLE AT ANYTIME EVEN SITTING IN IT OR SLEEPING IN ANY VEHICLE BECAREFUL AS THE COUNCIL STATE YOU CANNOT CAMP COOK OR SLEEP IN ANY VEHICLE AT ANY TIME EVEN THOU IT IS NOT DISPLAYED ON THE OLD SIGN ON THE PHOTOGRAPH DISPLAYED OF THE SIGN YOU WILL SEE THE GLASS IS CRACKED AND WHEN IT RAINS,RAINWATER PENETRATES INSIDE CAUSING CONDENSATION TO BUILD UP

WE ARE ASSUMING ITS IN EVERY CARPARK IN THE TOWN .YET THE PARKING RULES IN THE CARPARK ONLY STATE NO CAMPING WHICH IN THE OXFORD DICTIONARY RELATES TO TENTS.BUT IT ALSO MEANS IN ANY VEHICLE YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO COOK A MEAL OR MAKE A HOT DRINK .EAT ANY FOOD IR DRINK ETC .STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE OR SLEEP IN YOUR VEHICLE AT ANY TIME ETC SO WE WONT BE VISITING AGAIN AND SPENDING OUR MONEY IN THE SHOPS.
ALSO IF YOU ARE A VISITOR TO THE TOWN AND ARRIVE WHEN ITS POURING DOWN LATE EVENING THE VERY OLD CUPBOARD DISPLAYS A SIGN THAT YOU CANNOT READ .EVEN THE PARKING WARDENS PHOTOGRAPH OF THE SIGN WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ
SO BEWARE ALL MOTORHOME OWNERS THIS COUNCIL DOSNT LIKE US AND ANY KIND OF MOTOR VEHICLE AT ANY TIME OF DAY WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A SLEEP SNACK,TAKEAWAY OR EVEN STAY INSIDE THE VEHICLE IN A VEHICLE OR COOK IN A VEHICLE ETC.AND THE COUNCIL THINK THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SIGN,THEY STATE THE WORDING IN THE BOX IS QUITE ADEQUATE

Super location just outside the town. However we managed even better by getting parked just outside the car park right on the green.
Very nice location. Recommended.
