Il Caffe Di Roma, Khalidiya

I ordered the veggie pizza, cheese pizza and lentil soup at Il Caffe for Di Roma.

This is definitely the worst pizza I have ever tasted in my life. The pizza basically was not a pizza in the true sense of the term as the vegetables did not stick to the pizza. Also , they use a very little amount of red sauce when making the pizza, as per management instructions.

I received the pizza in a dilapidated state - I could actually pick the vegetables out - the zucchini, broccoli ???? etc. all came out easily. None of them were an integral part of the pizza itself. There was only a minuscule amount of sauce on the bread with the rest of the items not integrated with the pizza.

This is like having a piece of bread ???? with some marinara sauce sprinkled on top of it for name sake, and some boiled vegetables added as toppings. This is NOT pizza and it is a shame to call this ITALIAN. Even a street food vendor in the slums of Nepal or India can make better pizza than this.

Here is what the problem is, as per my discussion with their chef Narendra and other staff who were managing the restaurant.

As per management instructions, they have been instructed to use a different type of fresh cheese ( versus mozzarella strands) which as per the chef, does not stick well to the pizza. That is why the ugly looking and awkward tasting cheese curdles up in a few sides of the pizza and the rest of the vegetables are all distinct and non integrated with the so called pizza. Regarding the extremely limited marinara sauce , it appears from the explanation of the chef and the team that they have been instructed to use very limited quantities of sauce. If the customer needs more sauce, they can pay extra money and add it.

Chef Narendra and the other staff member were courteous and friendly enough to make another pizza for me( I truly appreciate their efforts ) which was a little bit better- but from a quality and taste standpoint , much more was needed. They made the pizza the second time by adding double cheese ( using a cheese mix of fresh cheese and mozzarella stands) so that they could make the vegetables stick to the pizza base. The result was an excessively cheesy pizza , still lacking taste , texture and quality.

The bottom line is that ICDR , despite its famed Italian roots, does not know how to make pizza. I paid a lot more over AED 100 for this food that deserves to be thrown in the dustbin. This is literally money down the drain. Even the lentil soup was very average and not packed properly. The soup itself was a bit watery and lacked texture and consistency.

I had high hopes of ICDR ( as I had breakfast before and liked it) but it was a complete disaster this time and a total waste of hard earned ????.

Management needs to get their act together and not compromise on quality by giving abrupt and ad hoc instructions to the chef and the front line team at the Khaldiya branch. The disconnect between management and the front line staff and chef is very obvious. Management needs to refocus on quality and ensure that quality is not compromised on an effort just to make more money on Zomato.

I usually do not write reviews of this nature but when food and service standards stoop down to such appalling levels , I think this deserves to be read by people. This is truly an experience that is a a true personification of a disgrace to food quality standards and poor operational execution.

Friendly and very cheerful service crew. My friends and I had a lovely coffee and breakfast experience.

Unfortunately they let customers smoke inside (indoors), even though there is a big sign that says is not allowed to. The smoke smell was so strong that we had to leave.

Very friendly staff!

Had their Cafe Rosa and it's a definitely a must-try for those who likes sweet drinks.

Sandwich we have ordered was dry, like no sauce, maybe it's supposed to be like that ????????u200d♀️ but price was high for what I ate and i had to go to another place to fill stomach. Latte was good. Sofa where we wanted to sit was not clean, so we sat on chairs.

I am only rating the drinks, didn't try their food yet and I don't think I will anytime soon.
However, their maya and gaya are amazing, a reasonable price compared to size, tried two branches and both branches staff are good and friendly. Indoor seating are good but not great.

Have visited several times and liked the gaya drink! (Because Freinds work there) But I am very disappointed by the way they treat the staff, they fired several staffs and then left them hanging without paying them and didn’t even give end of service.
