Weirdly, the first detail that drew me in when I entered this lovely church are the pew ends, which are Tudor, and rather magnificently deeply carved.

It’s a double barrel vault, and although deeply ancient, it was restored by Butterfield in the 1850s, when building the next door Rectory.

Lovely polychromed reredos screen, a beautiful (surely Victorian) brass coronet chandelier, and some fascinating family brass memorials behind the altar.

A serene setting in a charming village, which has all the key elements for community life: pub, church, school.

Can’t resist a wander round a beautiful old church. Didn’t disappoint. Very interesting memorial to the men who died in 1846 frozen to death in a boat.
