Excellent way to cross the river Dart, the most beautiful view of both Dartmouth, Kingswear, and the river with its opening to the sea. The service is reliable, and the staff is generally the nicest bunch of people I've met on ferries. It can be busy during the summer with some wait, but it is most certainly worth the experience.

We didn’t use the lower ferry however Dartmouth is a wonderful place to visit, the people are wonderful and the guest house we stayed in was Mount haven and I would advise anyone that enjoys comfort, friendly hosts and good food to visit oh the view from the back patio is stunning.

A day trip to Dartmouth, the best way to get there for me is on the lower ferry, which takes you from Kingswear and over the River Dart to Dartmouth - it’s a lovey trip across the river and can be done either in the car or as a foot passenger. Dartmouth it’s a great little town to wander about, it’s has some great shops, a local market, gardens to walk through and a waterfront with plenty of benches to sit and watch the gorgeous view. Lots of places to eat here as well, but we sat on a bench with a Cornish pasty and a picnic box from the Smith Street Deli which was delicious!

Lovely boat trip over to Dartmouth, easy to get to fast and staff were nice and helpful. Definitely worth a visit. The views are absolutely stunning.

A ferry across to the former D'Oyle Carte holiday home, now a National Trust property. Well worth visiting.

It's a ferry that takes you over the River Dart to and from Dartmouth and Kingswear. We were taking the coastal roads west and this ferry provided a wonderful interlude.
The views from the ferry and surrounds are stunning, and I know it's quicker and easier to whip down the main routes, but not nearly as pretty.
Take the pretty route, it's more memorable.

Quick and easy to use, it's a bit of a fiddle get to and from but it's cheaper than the diesel to drive around, it takes only a min or two and lastly who doesn't like a ferry. It was about 6.50 each way with our van and we didn't have to wait either way, daytime at half term. Great for getting to Calton fishacre. Cash and card accepted.

We had a lovely day travelling by the steam train from Paignton to Dartmouth and taking the ferry across for lunch. The train experience was great and the ferry was very well organised. I don't recommend the beverages from the train stations (either end) as the teas and coffees we got were not very nice and none of us finished drinking them. But friendly staff, clean facilities, and a great experience made up for it. I haven't marked my review stars down as this was not linked directly to the ferry but wanted to add the info. I don't think we took any photos of the ferry as I had my 5 year old with us and obviously the priority was making sure she didn't disappear:)
