I would like to start by saying that this is a beautiful woodland and a great place to take your doggies or family for a picnic or just a hike. Now if you're following Google maps please type in Lea Road which is just down the road from where Google takes you. It's better access to the woodland. Furthermore there are lots of car parks which are pay and display, at £2.50 per 2h however you can park on the side of the roads for free if you wanted to. The pathways were muddy when we went, I imagine they would be even in summer as there are few streams flowing down the woodland, so walking boots or wellies is a must. Lots of wild garlic here and you get the aroma as you walk, makes my doggies go absolutely crazy ???? The canal and the river run parallel to the woodland so you could go and walk along those pathways if you are after gentler stroll. Please be mindful that the water runs fast at places and it is very deep. No horse riders or livestock that we could see. We are definitely going back ????
