Beautiful place. Historical Cemetery, very big we didn't realised how big so didn't make it round the whole place. Learnt a lot about the people who had died there who were special to Norwich.
Paths are very slippery even on a sunny dry day, Mud wasn't dry going up the side and coming back down there were so many leaves my friend slipped and rolled. Luckily he was ok. So word of warning if you visit to watch your foot placement & try to keep steady.

This cemetery has real character, very enchanting in many ways, and typically Victorian. Despite being in the centre of Norwich, it's peaceful and a place to either spend time reflecting or to wander around some fascinating headstones with detailed epitaphs or those with monuments and altars. You will see various wildlife, flower and fauna. But I particularly like visiting in the autumn for all the colour or in winter near dusk, for a very eerie atmosphere.

Plenty of history at this cemetery, the country's first non-denominational burial ground which opened in 1821.

Stunningly beautiful, tranquil and heavenly. A wonderful bird and squirrel haven. I absolutely loved walking around and taking photographs on my birthday. Exquisite memorials and a step back in time. I can not wait to return. My new favourite place to escape.

I wanted to go to my mum and dad‘s grave on Father’s Day to check out Flowers I checked website for rosary and it said it was shutting at 4 o’clock, as I realised I couldn’t get there till about five I decided to park near the bottom entrance, as you could always climb over the wall if the gate was shut, surprised and confused , I found the gate open , but decided to walk up the hill to the far side of the cemetery to reach grave, Anyone who has done this , can tell you it’s quite a trek , but I didn’t want to chance going to the near entrance on telegraph Lane , as not sure if it was open ….. I have since found out the website times are totally wrong , and it was not shutting till 8 o’clock , this is very annoying as people have probably aborted going to the cemetery based on the times and it’s not exactly rocket science just to keep the website accurate and up-to-date !!!

If you are seeking peace and tranquility, perhaps needing to order your thoughts or just to see a bit of lush greenery this is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit.

The Victorian part of the Cemetery offers pretty vistas and lush greenery. It can look wild and it is definitely teeming with wildlife. I have met numerous grey squirrels, you can hear them as they squabble in the trees, a green woodpecker laughing, little muntjac deer watching inquisitively from the hedge, tame robins and other birds. In the summer months the grass is left to grow and many wildflowers appear so inviting to moths and butterflies.

The cemetery offers an educational trail you can follow, it is marked by posts with small information boards that highlight the lives of some of the famous people interred in this cemetery. This being a non-denominational burial ground (the first one of its kind in England when it was established by Thomas Drummond, a non-conformist minister in 1819) there are many interesting people from Norwich’s past buried here.

Definitely worth a visit!
